Jenn in Haiti- Photography Mission

My name is Jennifer Elrod and I am looking for sponsorship to go to Haiti for two months.
Last summer I went to Haiti with my church, I helped to lead a team and my life was forever changed when I met a little boy named Gilbert.


Gilbert is 15 years old and is one of 10 children. Gilbert and one of his sisters both have a type of dwarfism, cerebral palsy and some other health related issues. He came to the Miriam Center at least two years ago when his mom became ill and could not care for him and his siblings. When Gilbert's sister passed away, he blamed his mom for her death thus creating chrysalis around his heart that is sometimes tough to see through his big smile and fun nature. But I have seen Gilbert's love for God, I have seen his love for others, and I have even sung worship with him. I know that God's love, mercy, and grace is powerful; I pray not only for Gilbert's health but for the condition of healing and forgiveness in his heart.

This past June I found myself back in Haiti with Gilbert. The two weeks flew by way too fast, but I knew I really had served a purpose there and have been desiring to go back, if the Lord would lead me back to serve for a longer term. While in Haiti, I got to share my photography skills as I hosted a photo shoot with the special needs orphanage. There was nothing more beautiful than getting to meet each child face to face and to capture just a glimpse of their sweet soul... to attempt to make them smile capture just a piece of the joy they possessed and share it with the world.

Three weeks after being home, I got a phone call. I was asked to return back to Haiti to not only serve there and work with the children and people of the mission, but also to help launch a special project. To use my photography and media relations talents and skills in Haiti... not for two weeks, but for two months. Through much prayer and discernment, the Lord has truly called me back to Haiti.


Now I have less than 5 weeks until I will be leaving for Haiti.
Here is my bold ask:
I need your help to raise money for my expenses while I am in Haiti.
My goal is to raise $2000, to help cover expenses and ministry projects while I am there for two months.
One of the projects I want to raise money to purchase shoes for children of the Miriam Center- not all of them have shoes and when we go to the park there are red ants and some of the kids get bit. I would love for each child to have a pair of shoes.
