Welcome to the second phase of this miraculous journey! As many of you know, our dear Schuyler Arakawa, an alumna of Yale University, was left in critical condition in February of this year when a large boulder fell directly on her in Colombia while serving as a volunteer fellow in Peru. Miraculously, against all comprehensible odds, Schuyler not only survived but, through the extraordinary care of physicians in both Colombia and Miami and prayers from every corner of the earth, is thriving with every passing day! Her physicians are astounded at her progress and believe that through her courage, determination and will, and through the continued support of Schuyler’s extraordinary global community, the Schuy Truly Will Be The Limit!
This next year will be pivotal on her road to recovery and will require 24 hour care as she moves towards a fully independent life. The generosity of Schuyler’s global family has been awe inspiring and has ensured that she received the necessary medical care in the first critical months following the accident. As Schuyler valiantly faces the next summit, we are once again opening our arms and hearts to you in hopes that you will assist with Schuyler’s caregiving expenses so that she has the resources needed to help her rediscover her full life force! We can think of no more powerful investment than the reemergence of this beautiful, giving soul, for every ounce will be returned tenfold to those in need as Schuyler steps back into her life’s vision to impact our world.
No gift is too small – or too big! The hiring of an in home health care provider alone is cost prohibitive with estimates of nearly $200,000 per year! As an alternative, Schuyler’s mom (with the help of Schuy’s wonderful siblings and friends) has stepped in to be her 24/7 caregiver. She will be providing many aspects of her care this coming year to make Schuy's recovery far more affordable and comprehensive. Please join us in sponsoring an hour, a day, a week, or a month of Schuyler’s journey as she continues to astound and inspire us all. Your generosity will help insure that Schuyler not only continues to get the therapy that she will need once the insurance coverage stops, but that the family’s living expenses are covered while Meridith works to insure the full recovery of this special young woman.
