The Scar Tissue Photography Project is a extension of the book Diary of a Diva by, my friend, Yvette 'Diva' Williams. Her beautifully written personal and poetic account of the trials and joys of life bring this project full circle in the coordinating essay entitled "Scar Tissue"

The project had its first test shoot earlier this year which yielded some outstanding images! With the help of the amazing talent of a local special effects artist, Ben Peter of Peter Pumpkinhead Studios, and some incredible ladies who allowed their own pain and internal scars to be recreated physically.

It was an emotional but healing and even fun shoot.
The project now has the opportunity to continue to grow. Our goal is to set up shoots each month to help others heal through the journey of participating in these sessions. To show everyone the harm that words actually have. To do that we need studio time/space and most importantly the special effects make up Ben uses to create the scars.
