Help me Save my Renaissance

Donation protected
We are Muscovy Trading Company. This company has been in existance since 2003 producing high quality Elizabeth era accurate clothing. Our current home faire is  in Wisconsin.

The original designer of all of our products and original Owners Guy and Frieda Parras Jones were dedicated to their craft and I respected that to the highest degree. I am trying to keep to Frieda's design but expand to smaller sizes to accomodate the younger and tiny patrons of the Renaissance Faire set.

Our lines range from middle class merchant to casual upper class. The men's line includes Jerkins, a men's vest that laces down the front, a simple vest with no laces. Both made of materials ranging from simple cottons to ornate upholstry like cotton. Breeches made of cotton that tie in the front and two types of shirts, a fallen collared and a ruffled collared shirst that come in a natural, white and black to satify our pirates of course.

The womens line includes a similar laced vest more fitting for the ladies. A long sleeved chemise for proper modesty of a light cotton. A long skirt and a shorter over skir and Bloomer of lightweight linen. I am hoping to bring in several new items over the next two seasons.

Let us not forget the Travelers cloaks for men and women! Short 1 & 2 Medium and long for those tall drinks of water made of the finest wool at lease 6-7 yards and fully lined with cotton twill. We also carry a vaiety of wool and straw hats and of course pirate sashes!

I took over the business from Guy after Frieda Passed and have been trying to keep it afloat. Our first season was just enough to cover the transition. But this year has been quite difficult. I have suffered several devistating injuries and a car accident as soon as this years faire closed. Thus we have fallen even farther behind in our finances and are in danger of loosing the business and shop all together. This is my love and I cannot bear the see it disappear. Therefore I am reaching out and asking for help!! Help me save my Renaissance.

What We Need & What You Get

If It is at all possible that we will NOT be in a tent this season but if we are able to kickstart enough capital we may be able to KEEP our permanent building. I am quite frantic about the prospect. Muscovy has worked very hard on our clothing. It is Elizabethan period accurate and of great quality but can span the re-enactor eras up to the Civil War era! I am dedicated to NOT allowing this company to end! I also have 2 employees and several friends ready and willing to do whatever is needed to keep this company afloat. It is very hard to find employees willing to stick with a company not knowing if it will be there when Fair opens!!

The Impact

Although I have worked Faire for 17 seasons, I was just lucky enough that those jobs have never been work!! This is now my greatest opportunity to make what was a job that I love, become a career. I can then provide jobs to others who will never feel like it is work. The last 8 seasons have been the most incredible. I had the pleasure and advantage of working for 2 of the most dedicated and big hearted couples, the last being at Moscovy. I have grown to love this company and have thought of the Owner's as my long lost Cousins. I believe in their product and have done everything I can as their Manager over the last 8 years to make sure they are want for nothing. The Owners 1st wife was one of the kindest non-Mom's I have ever had. I want to continue in her footsteps and treat my employees like the kids I never had and most importantly. I want to continue providing the lovingly made clothes to patrons and participants alike. This is also my chance to continue reaching out to all the communities Muscovy will be operating in. Not just through the theatres and schools but local businesses via gift certificates purchased for the bonus programs for employees

Other Ways You Can Help

I have contributed to campaigns like this where I know someone is just trying to get back on their feet or taking that tentative step out on their own. I know some people are not able to contribute money but may be willing to contribute things like shelves or raw material if local to Kenosha. But word of mouth is just as good. Telling someone about the campaign and there for giving us exposure may lead to the help we need.
