Milo Mans Critical Spinal Surgery

Donation protected

On September 18, 2016 at 11:30 am Milo was run over by a car.  I took him out front to go potty as I have always done since we first brought him home.  Our backyard is small and is covered with a wooden deck, so we take him outfront where there is grass.  He has gotten into this routine to where he does his business and then wants to take himself for a walk down the sidewalk.  I am always with him when he walks and I always direct him to go back to the house which he always does.  This time for some reason he decided to dart into the middle of the road and a silver SUV slammed on his brakes but it was too late.  Milo was run over by this and I was in pure shock.  I ran over to this car, dragged him out from under it and immediatly went inside to get my keys to take him to the emeregancy vet hospital.   It took me less than 1 minute to get my keys and by the time I got outside to my car.. this silver SUV was gone.  The driver did not get out his vehicle to help out or see if he was okay... he immediatly fled the scene.   The point is that Milo has sustained critical injuries in which he must have at least 3 surgies to repair the damage.  He has a broken left rear leg as well a shattered pelvis with 3 major breaks AND worst of all, his spine is separated from his pelvis.  Thank the good Lord that his bladder was not ruptured because that would a separte surgery in itself.  If you have ever me me or Corey Wert you know how important this dog is in our life.  He is our child.  I got him in December as a Christmas gift and he just celebrated his first birthday last Saterday.  He is the most amazing dog you will ever meet. He LOVES new people and especially females.  If you have ever met Milo you are very privledged and I promise you that he will always remember who you are if you see him again.  Although he is small Frenchie, he always thinks he is the biggest dog in the doggie park.  His personality and kindness will make even the worst day feel as though it is nothing.  I am asking everyone to help as much as you can to help in this time of need.  Milo does not deserve the cards he was dealt today and he needs to be at home with his mom, dad, brother and sister (2 cats).  The smallest amount helps.  This will not be an easy process and it is probably killing Corey and I worse than it is Milo.  The BEST thing that came out of this horrible situation is that Milo is still alive.  The vet said that if it was not for his thick build and muscles, he would not be alive.  She also said that given this massive trama of injuries that he is the strongest little dog she has seen.  He is still fighting and will continue to fight until he is 100% better.  I am begging and praying that he will be okay but he won't but unless he gets this series of surguries.   Please find it in your heart to help not me and Corey, but Milo.  He deserves to live the rest of his life happy and surrounded by people who love him.

We just need help covering the costs of all the surgeries, our preliminary statement is for over $3k and that is just for his first surgery which is supposed to happen tomorrow if he is stable enough for it.  This doesn't include any of the additional surgeries that he will need and there is currently only a $75 dollar buffer on his bill for any extra incidentals that could come up during his surgery.  Right now, Milo is resting in the emergency vet hospital and is hooked up to a morphene drip, fluids, ands other pain management medicines.  He has a catheter because he cannot take himself to the bathroom on his own and the vet doesn't want him to try to stand up to find a place to go potty.  He is stable right now, but very far from being out of the woods.

Milo has some amazing photos and it was hard to chose just one but the one that was selected is perfect.  It shows how curious and adorable he is.  Please know that you are helping us get our child back.  Thank you for your time and God Bless.

Milo is at the Blue Pearl Pearl Veterinary Hospital at Greenbriar.
