Bert's Market Place Warehouse Theater has been the one spot where many come from around the globe to experience the many genres of music that Detroit is famous for. From jazz, techno, gospel & country to the world wide musical tradition of the Motown sound. You've always been able to drop in and catch great artists past and present frequenting or performing such as the late Belita Woods, Ortheia Barnes Kennerly & Marcus Belgrave. Presently, international bassist Ralph Armstrong & Kern Brantley, trumpeter John Douglass saxophonist, James Carter, Kenny G, Martha Reeves, Kid Rock, Alexander O'Neal, Kyle Eastwood, Jerry Butler, Carl Carlton and countless, countless others still consider Bert's their entertainment hub. Bert's has been a landmark in the Eastern Market District for over 28 years. He has provided clothing and food for the homeless, job opportunities for the youth, as well as helped entertainers, in the music industry. Through the years, Bert's has provided a venue to host Fundraisers and repast space for entertainers.
Sadly, Bert's Market Place is in jeopardy of being closed. Mr. Bert Dearing, an Icon of Detroit, became ill last year and was hospitalized and had open heart surgery. This tragedy caused him to incur arrearage, leaving Bert's Marketplace Warehouse in a vulnerable state for take over. It's time to give back to the one person that has helped many people in the Metro area. We are asking you to give whatever your pockets can bare in support of saving Bert's Warehouse Complex.
