Michael Savage

Mike and Heather have been married for 17 years and have four children and several "nonadopted" children they claim. Both have always been involved in ministries that support family growth spiritually with pregnacy centers, Harbor Sports Alliance (Sports ministry for state awarded children), Youth ministries, and being a Children's Pastor currently. Mike was diagnosed with Stage 4 Apendiceal cancer in September 2014. Although this was a devestating blow he wouldn't allow it to define him or his life. He continued to glorify the Lord and serve God in his various ministries while going through treatments and learning about his disease. Through the next several months Mike and his family were VERY blessed through his job, their loving family, amazing friends, and caring church. Without this support system, this time would have been extremely difficult to handle. The news over these several months following diagnosis seemed to always worsen to a point he and Heather quit telling everyone. A failed attempt at a hopeful surgery in January 2015 was a devestating blow to the family and affected them tremendously. They felt they were stuck on a rollercoaster in the middle of a nightmare they couldnt wake up from. The doctors didnt seem to offer much hope and confidence in them were slipping. Mike and Heather decided to take a leap and try Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Chicago. From the first phone call they felt welcomed and hope. They felted the hospital staff cared and had compassion towards them during this difficult transition of a care team. This new adventure will cost them deductibles, suppliments for Mike, air fares, and hotels.
