World Youth Day (WYD) is an amazing event that happens about every three years, in different countries. Here, youth from around the world are offered a place to gather, see the Pope, listen to speakers, and pray. It is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and something I have always dreamed of. Today we are asking if you can make our dreams come true!
We are going to attend this AWESOME event with my mom, some friends, and people from our local parish. So far, we have 22 people in our group! It's going to be amazing; not only do we get to go to Poland and see things there, we are also going to Rome!
Ever since I found out about World Youth Day, about the amazing experiences and opportunities it gives teens and adults alike to grow closer to God, I have wanted to go. It has always been a dream of mine to be able to grow deeper in my faith as well as help others to grow in their faith journeys.
As a teen, I am pretty active not only in my home parish, but in my city in general. I love service opportunities and mission trips, retreats and camps. But going out of the country with millions of other people my age to celebrate something we have in common, now THAT is pretty darn awesome.
My parents were the first ones to teach me about our faith and serving others. Since then, I have always felt this need to serve others. Whether it's the random passerby who needs help with her groceries, or a ministry at church, serving others is something I love to do. Attending bible studies, retreats, Life Teen, daily Mass, praying the Rosary, and helping others are just some things I do that help me to further grow in my faith. However, I have never done ANYTHING to the scale of World Youth Day, and it would be an amazing opportunity to help me and my friend Sabrina grow in our faith, but also to come back and help others with theirs.
I ask, please, that you consider giving a little to help us make this incredible journey. Even if you can only spare a dollar, it would be SUCH a help. We are raising every penny and so anything counts. Thank you and God bless! We will be praying for you, no matter if you give or not :)
