College Tuition

I was born with Cerebral Palsy and when I was young I was bound to a wheelchair and had to use forearm crutches to get around. As I got older, I tried my hardest to become as independent as possible. I now use a 4 wheel walker that gives me the independence I need to live a great life. I can walk and carry my belongings without assistance.

I decided to create GoFundMe account because as of midnight today I found out that Financial Aid denied my request for tuition assistance. All I have to take is 4 prerequisites to get into the bachelor program at my college for my major. Prior to being notified of the denial I was so excited to be starting classes that actually pertained to my major. I’ve come this far in my life as well as my higher education, the last thing that should be holding me back from enriching my life is money.

As of June 20th of 2015 I passed my final class for my Associates Degree in Information Technology. This was such a huge accomplishment. It took me a very long time to reach this milestone due to health and financial issues. I was born with 

On a typical day on my college campus I pack up my backpack, put it in the basket of my walker and walk to my classes just like any other college student. Yeah there some noticeable differences. I walk slower than most people. I always have to make sure I give myself enough ample time to get to and from where I have to go on campus. Always make sure I get to class before my other classmates so I can get a desk in the front of the classroom and near the exit.

I also have an increased sensitivity to everyday sounds which is called Hyperacusis. Basically my ears perceive sounds much louder than the average person. Which makes a typical class difficult at times. If my professor has a deep voice or likes to have inflection it makes me feel very uncomfortable and it hurts my ears. I’ll have to sit there covering at least one ear and still try to pay attention and do my work. If I’m in a situation where I absolutely can’t handle the environment I have to rely on these really obnoxious headphones that help me block out sounds. There the ones that construction workers use at sites. Very noticeable to say the least.

I feel as if I’m at the end of my rope, sort of speak. I can’t take out student loans since I’ve already done that.  I’m currently trying to pay those back. The last thing I want to do is take one class per semester.
