Supporting Safer Communities during Ramadan
Tell MAMA is a national project measures anti-Muslim attacks in the UK.
We know that dozens of mosques have been receiving threatening letters which have targeted mosques and which have attempted to create fear within Muslim communities. This is not acceptable in our country.
We believe that every community has the right to be who they want to be, and as Ramadan approaches, a month of reflection, spiritual rejuvenation and charity giving, we want to ensure that Muslim communities, mosques and all other communities can stand together for the values of pluralism that we actively defend. Everyone in our country has the right to feel safe.
This defence of our basic core values, means that we need to raise community awareness and education. This means that people need to be trained in basic safety and security measures so that faith institutions, like mosques and their congregations feel safe and are safe.
Ramadan is a time of peace and we want to ensure that all who use mosques and Islamic centres, men women and children, remain free to do so without fear.
Will you therefore support our Safe Ramadan campaign which will provide advice, safety training, and basic public safety tips to key workers in mosques, as well as committee members in Birmingham, Manchester, Luton, Bristol, London, Walsall, Bradford and Sheffield?
