Baby SadeLiz vs Cancer - Save Her

Donation protected
My name is Brent, and I have set up this fund for a good friend and coworker that has had a tragic turn of events in her life with her new-born daughter. Please read the story and help us bring the family through this with a healthy baby girl living a long life. Thank you for any support you can give!

SadéLiz (pronounced: Shaw-Day-Leez) was born to Chris and Naishma March 26, 2015. At only 3-weeks-old, SadéLiz was diagnosed with what was believed to be Neuroblastoma…a serious childhood cancer. A very large tumor was discovered in her abdomen and plans made for surgery. The surgery was performed on April 24, 2015. The surgeon, while having performed many similar surgeries, said she has never removed a tumor this large from a body this small. The tumor removed from SadéLiz measured a little over 11 centimeters, which equates to nearly 4.5 inches, and weighed more than a pound! Now the wait began for test results and a decision on the course of action.

The results finally came on Monday evening…the tumor was not the Neuroblastoma as originally diagnosed, but rather a Teratoma. That was a glimmer of good news, as a Teratoma (from the Greek word ‘teras’, meaning monster – and ‘oma’ meaning tumor) is typically benign and does not cause ongoing or systemic problems. The good news, however, has been eclipsed by the discovery of cancerous sacks attached to the outside of the benign Teratoma. In the process of removal, a portion of the tumor was trapped under the lower spinal cord and made removal more difficult. During the battle to remove it, one of the cancerous sacks burst and allowed cancer cells to escape in the abdomen. What are the possible effects and consequences of this occurrence and where to go from here? are the next questions to be answered.

SadéLiz now faces 3 cycles of Chemotherapy as the doctors say this is the most effective way to keep the escaped cancer cells from propagating and developing in other organs or systems. This is the point we are currently at and awaiting the first chemo treatment. We will update with new information as it comes available.

We are asking for your help in supporting Naishma and her family as they go through this horrible experience. Naishma is living in the hospital unable to work. Chris is not able to work as there are four other children to be cared for in the family. The donations here will go directly to the support of the family and assist in paying uncovered medical expenses. Again, thank you for ANY help you can give!
