Help Luke and his Rescuers

Donation protected
Help Luke thank his heroes and keep this amazing boy smiling!

Luke Shambrook is our delightful, resilient and brave cousin.   Luke, who has autism, loves camping with our extended family, and wandered off from our campsite on Good Friday morning and was missing for nearly 5 days in dense bush land at Lake Eildon.  This caused much distress and angst to Luke’s family and friends, and also had an overwhelming impact on the search and rescue teams and wider community.  When hope was almost lost, to our utter elation, Luke was found alive on Tuesday!  An absolute miracle!

Words cannot  express how thankful we are, for all the organisations that committed their expertise and time such as the Victorian Police, SES, Bush Search & Rescue, DEPI,  Parks Victoria and CFA to help find Luke.

We have set up this fund for two purposes.  Firstly, to help Luke thank his rescuers by raising donations for the special and courageous volunteers (SES, Bush Search & Rescue and CFA).  We would also like to say a special thank you by way of donation to Autism Victoria, AMAZE.  All to be delivered personally by Luke and his family.

Luke’s loving parents, Rachel & Tim, are committed and passionate to providing all of their 3 children with fun and varied opportunities to ensure a fulfilling and thriving life.  The second purpose of this fund, is to help Rachel & Tim continue to provide for the best care, opportunities and future needs for Luke, including:
- Post surgical care
- An iPad which is critical for his communication
- Specifically modified bicycle
- Ongoing physio, occupational & speech therapy
- Adaptive devices for daily living
- Professional Services training in using additional communication devices.

If this story has resonated with you, please make a donation that will benefit the amazing volunteers mentioned above (a minimum 10% of overall of funds raised), enhance Luke’s independence and enable him to reach his full potential. No matter how big or small, it will make a huge difference!

Thank you.  Kim Wheeler and family (on behalf of the Shambrook family)
