Get Shee-ra to Her He-Man!!!

In rescue we are always pushing to heal the hurting and mend the broken. Our goal is to ease suffering and leave happy endings in our wake. We eat, sleep, and breathe rescue and sometimes it takes over every other facet of our lives. We are taking a break from rescue for just a few to do a project concerning one of our other passions- VETERANS. There is a double amputee Afghanistan veteran in Florida that has been trying for 4 years to obtain a service dog and has been disappointed at every turn. He lost both of his legs, half of his pelvis, and a lot of the use in his arms after stepping on an IED during his EOD duties overseas. He has survived so much that doctors thought he wouldn't. A service dog would greatly improve his quality of life by helping him be more independent in and out of his home. He has severe anxiety issues out in public and a dog would help mentally ground him in overwhelming situations. At home, his wife could feel confident leaving him to go grocery shopping if there was a trained service dog to help him with everyday tasks. Thanks to a military wife that heard his story and reached out for help, a viable puppy named Shee-ra is being donated and the training for the puppy is being volunteered. The hold up is transport for Shee-ra from just outside of Chicago to St. Augustine, Florida. We have the vehicle and we have the drivers- we need to raise money for travel expenses. We'd also like to cover travel expenses for John and his wife to go back and forth from their home in Florida to the trainer in Virginia. This man has given so much for each and every one of us, please help us show him that people DO care. He has NOT been forgotten. His sacrifice IS appreciated. He and his family ARE an inspiration.
