Please Help 8 NEMS Students Soar to National History Day!
National History Day is a year-long curriculum in which students create a documentary, exhibit, website, research paper, or performance on a historical topic of their choice. Their project must be centered around a yearly theme, and they must show analysis and interpretation of primary and secondary sources. The theme for this year is "Leadership and Legacy in History." On Saturday, April 11th, 20 students from Northeast Middle School in Clarksville, TN participated in the Tennessee History Day State Competition at the Legislative Plaza in Downtown Nashville. Of those 20, 8 have qualified for the National History Day Competition held at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland. 9 have qualified as alternates to Nationals. The 8 who qualified represent 6 projects that won either 1st or 2nd place in their category of competition. These students are now in need of funding to help them get to the National Level Competition. The funding we raise will go directly to covering the costs of flights, room and board, meals, and transportation in and around the Washington D.C. area. The cost is right at $1,000 per child, and our goal is to raise enough money to cover 8 students and 2 chaperones. We have completed fundraising throughout the school year, but still need funding in order to meet our goal. We have one month to meet our goal, and any and every donation is appreciated!!!
