On August 21st, there was an explosion outside of Marshfield, Missouri, that was so earth shattering neighbors close to three miles away heard and felt the effects.
That explosion was the home of Dawn Guido, her daughter Angie and Dawn's 88 year old father, Mr. Bacon. Dawn and her daughter were not at home at the time of the explosion, but Dawn's father was there and pronounced dead at the scene that evening. The only thing Dawn and Angie were left with was a computer they had in for repair, and what ever they took with them to work and school that day.
Dawn is a retired Air Force major who now manages the office at a small family owned and operated music store in Springfield, Missouri. Her daughter, Angela, an honor student and a senior at Missouri State University who plans to attend law school after she graduates. This was Angie's first week of her senior year. Dawn's son, Tony lives locally, but everyone else in their family lives far away.
Please, take a moment to help these ladies begin the recovery process. There are many things they will not be able to recover from through monetary donations, but there are many things that will help them feel comfort once again. I sat at home last night imagining what it would be like to suddenly not have a clean pair of socks to put on, or something as simple as not having the ability to charge my phone to keep in touch with long distance family members during the crisis.
