Ruth's Skin Removal Surgery

My name is Ruth I weighed 380lbs plus. I had sleep apnea which means I would stop breathing in my sleep. I was borderline diabetic and received cortisone shots in my left leg because of it.The pain was so intense, when I first started walking again, I was crying out of not just the physical pain but the emotional pain to. I knew that this journey was just beginning and it was going to be the hardest thing I ever endured. I knew this journey was not optional. It was going to be tough mentally and physically but I knew God would get me through it. I cried out to him and this is where it all began. I bought the Biggest Loser video and over a period of 5 months I started the workouts in my living room doing the best I could. It was not pretty and my form was not correct but I kept going. I knew I had to do this for myself and for my future. Then I cut out fast food,started meal planning and eating healthier and lost my first 40 pounds within those 5 to 12 months. I kept going, kept getting stronger and kept persevering. I have now lost a total of 170 pounds and I’m not done yet. I have walked 3 5ks and have progressed to harder workouts. I also quit smoking 2 years ago. I thought I would never quit smoking but it can be done. As a result of my extreme weight loss and determination I have 20 + lbs of excess skin to be removed. I am saving what I can for the surgery but I need help. The insurance companies do not cover skin removal. This is the next step in extreme weight loss. There is alot of changes not just physically but emotionally as well. I know I have worked very hard on this weightloss journey. ❤ I look at this as the next chapter of my journey as I continue to be an inspiration to others. I am so thankful for so many that have been a part of this hard journey!
