Run for Isaac!

Isaac has been a member of our Explorer family since kindergarten. As a kindergartener at Explorer, he taught our students what bravery is as he battled and beat his cancer. To know this kid is to love him. He has such optimism and strength, and a smile that can light up a room. He was only three years old when he was first diagnosed with this leukemia. After three and half years of treatment, Isaac was then off of treatment for four years. Just one year shy of being clear, Isaac was diagnosed again on January 13, 2015 with ALL leukemia.
Because of this diagnosis, Isaac had to leave school and receive intense treatment. His classmates and friends at school miss him terribly and felt strongly that they wanted to do something to show Isaac they were thinking of him and cheering him on in his fight. "Run for Isaac" was born from this need.
On May 7th, 72 5th graders and numerous other parents, teachers and friends will participate in "Run for Isaac"-a 5k run in Liberty Station. Most importantly, Isaac and his dad will complete the 5k together. Our goal is to raise money which will be given to Isaac's family to cover medical expenses which can run into the tens of thousands of dollars. The Martinez family has committed to donating any excess funds to pediatric cancer research.
