Ruck Cancer: a campaign for Bryce

Donation protected
On February 14th, Newport News Mariners Rugby Football Club will host a charity match in support of the son of a team member. Bryce Delozier, eight year old son of longtime assistant coach and forward David Delozier, was diagnosed with cancer (Rabydomyosarcoma, or RMS). The Delozier family has done a lot to further the growth of rugby in the Virginia Peninsula area, from David’s time as the coach of Heritage High School in Newport News, to his valuable contributions on and off the field for NNRFC. It is in this spirit that we would like to give back to David and his family during this difficult time.

The match will be held on Saturday, February 14th, 2015 at Newport News’ home field of Crittenden Middle School, with a kickoff time of 1 PM. The match will be made up of NNRFC players and any local players who are willing to lend their time. The match itself will be a “pick-up” match and teams will be selected from available players prior to kickoff. While there is no set donation amount, NNRFC asks that each player who is willing to participate donate some amount (any amount, large or small helps).

Concessions and t shirts (preorder only) will also be available, with proceeds of those sales going directly to the Delozier family.

The money raised for Bryce will go towards paying for treatment, various hospital fees such as parking and co-pays, and meals. For those unable to participate in the match but still want to contribute you may do so by visiting this GoFundMe page or contacting NNRFC team treasurer Ken Durbin. Newport News Rugby Football Club thanks you for all of your support.
