Please help us to meet this goal and bring the project to Life ~ Thank You!

Formerly a 26-yr resident of Twisp, WA, and now living in Blaine, I am a classical violinist, composer, regular soloist, orchestral and chamber music player working from Blaine to Tacoma.  Since 2016, I have been a violin, viola and cello teacher at Evergreen Music School (Bellingham & Mount Vernon); member of the Bellingham Symphony Orchestra; member of the Starry Night Orchestra; Viola Coach for the Fidalgo Youth Symphony;  teach classes in chamber music, and continue to offer my Practice Techniques Clinic; and am Faculty at Sounds of Summer Music Festival yearly.

I   was conductor in Twisp of the Pipestone Orchestra 2012-2016; conductor of the Pipestone Youth Orchestra 2009-2016; was Violin Faculty at Pipestone School of Music 2005-2016, which included facilitating the Scholarship program; member of the Tamarack String Quartet 2005-2016; member of the Wenatchee Valley Symphony Orchestra;  yearly participant in Lake Chelan Bach Fest; and have been an on-call member of the Everett Philharmonic Orchestra since 2016.

This Project is specific to my wish for a high caliber performance of my compositions.  The concert would premiere:

 (1)  Piece for String Orchestra   (2)  Of Passion & Pain for Cello and Violin  ( 3) Trio No. 1, for Two Violins and Viola  (1st movement only performed 1982 for a class)  (4)  1 Cadenza for the Beethoven Violin Concerto  (5)  1 Cadenza for the Saint-Saens Violin Concerto  (6) Partita for Solo Violin (Apr 2016)  (7)  Trio No. 3 (Feb 2020)

and include:

(8)  1 Cadenza for the Beethoven Violin Concerto which I've already performed twice on stage with orchestra  (9) Trio No. 2, for Oboe, Violin and Cello, performed twice (10)  Lamente for Violin & Piano premiered at Sun Mountain Lodge

The Proposal  includes dollars allotted for:

* 24 string players:  $250-$650  dependent on the number of pieces & difficulty:  $5,900
* Piano accompanist for Lamente:  $150
* Composer/producer/performance fee: $1,500
*  Rent of Venue: $500

I have perfect pitch and compose music without need for instruments at hand: I am a channel for the energy of music which flows through me and wish for my music to be performed in my lifetime by highly trained musicians who deserve to be paid their due.  Musicians spend thousands and thousands of unpaid hours in the practice room (one statistic says 95% of their time, compared to 5% performance time).   I was started on the violin at age 18 months, in my first recital at 3 (for which I still have the Seattle Times newspaper article), put on a performance track which included solo, orchestral and chamber music training, and was the First Place Winner in the WA State Music Educator's Solo Contest in 1978 on the Lalo Concerto at the age of 15.  I lost the ability to play at age 19 due to "over-use" (thoracic outlet syndrome,  which requires monthly body work in order that I play the violin at all)  after successful performances of  the violin repertoire including Bach's Ciaconne, the Tchaikovsky Concerto at age 17, et al and forced  to return home from IU School of Music to change my career: I had success in the corporate world for nearly 30 years. Performance tapes also include the Mendelssohn Trio in d minor, Cal State Long Beach Summer Institute of Chamber Music July 1982; Shostakovich Trio, WWU 1982; and Beethoven Opus 59 No. 1, Marrowstone Music Festival Aug. 1981.

My teachers were the greats of the time:  my father Garner Kaiyala; Vilem Sokol  as both my private teacher at the UW age 9-15, and conductor of the Seattle Youth Symphony where I joined at age 13 and became concertmaster age 17;  Mara Dvonch;  Emanuel Zetlin;  Charmian Gadd & Richard Goldner; Little Symphony under Ray Thompson, Junior Symphony under Walt Cole,  the Borodin Trio, the Concord String Quartet, the Philadelphia String Quartet, andmany more.  Mentors include Heifetz, Kreisler, Menuhin, Stern, Perlman...Bernstein, Abado...Horowitz...a long list of greats.

Following a corporate career of 28 years, and raising my wonderful son, I am back in music and working as a professional since 2005.  I've soloed regularly including the Saint-Saens Concerto as part of full yearly recitals at Sun Mountain Lodge, and performed both Beethoven Violin Concerto and Mendelssohn Concerto twice with both local orchestras,  etc.   I cannot express my gratitude working in my area of calling and passion, and will be eternally thankful for the opportunity to share my works, that they not spend their life in a box unheard.
