R.O.O.T.S Community Revival

Community is the backbone of our society, without support we cannot build a future for our children. Eglinton West is known for its Caribbean culture in the city of Toronto, its attractions such as foods & music are what this pocket of the city is all about. Over the last 10 years we have lost part of that essence that so many love to taste see and hear. Our goal is to bring back that essence and set a foundation for our children, this is the ROOTS FOUNDATION.
Our team has a great involvement with our community, together we bring to the table an abundance of experience and over 25 years of volunteer work. To date we have worked with youths in detention centers, local community radio broadcasting, and youth employment services just to name a few. We have organized community fundraisers for underprivileged youth returning to school, international contributions for many living in poverty, aid to victims impacted by Natural Disasters and serving food at homeless shelters acrosss the city of Toronto. Our new goal is to revive the community on Eglinton West by helping local businesses, creating more communtity awareness & creating programs for At Risk Youths.
A few goals for this organization are to work with other community advocates, we are involved in the promotion of our new named Reggae Lane with a beautiful mural of artists from the city that have contributed to the promotion and development of the music industry. We would like to provide programs for youths to express themselves and have an outlet for young people to get together. We also would like to showcase young talent and leadership skills or for those who may have an interest to learn. Some of these programs give children the ability to learn leadership/entrepreneurship, photography, musical production, dance, and visual arts. Radio is another format in which our community stays connected and we wish to implement a station where we a can listen learn and share.
Overall it is simple, one step at a time to reach our destination. We can do it and we need your help.
