Rob's Journey fighting Liver cancer

Donation protected

Our friend Rob Wallace was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2015 and has since undergone countless examinations, treatments and surgeries. Through the kindness of friends and neighbors, Rob received the priceless gift of a liver transplant in June 2017. Both Rob and his donor are recovering extremely well, but the road ahead is expected to bring many new obstacles.

Doctors say it will take anywhere from six months to a year for Rob to begin to feel like himself again and he will be unable to return to work for several months. In the meantime, the Wallace family is faced with the burden of medical, day-to-day and additional unforeseen expenses. Your contribution will bring Rob, his wife Lori and their three children some much-needed relief – and remind them that their friends will be here for their journey ahead.

Rob Wallace, father of 3, husband, son, brother and loyal friend is fighting liver cancer.

I would like to share how I found out about Rob's cancer & why the Wallaces need your help.

In January 2016, I was relaxing in front of the fire with my family when I received a gut wrenching email from my dear friend that her husband Rob had been diagnosed with liver cancer & was in need of a new liver ASAP. He was facing multiple surgeries ahead of him and many lengthy medical tests. His only hope was to find a new liver or a living donor. My jaw dropped & I felt like someone had kicked me in the stomach. My first thought was this was a mistake and it couldn't be. We were out just weeks before together, laughing and having a ball. After talking to his wife Lori, it turned out that Rob had found out 2 weeks before Christmas and selflessly didn't want to tell his family and put a "damper" on their holiday. After telling Lori about his diagnosis, she kept it from her friends for a while as she did not want to burden any of us. That is the true Wallace way of doing things... putting everyone ahead of themselves.

Rob and Lori then embarked on this journey alone when indeed they needed help and guidance. It has been a very long and rigorous journey, living day by day, in fear of the worse and praying for good news. All of this was happening while trying to maintain daily life as normal as possible for their children. This is where we can all join in and help their journey run a little more smoothly.

The amazing news is Rob has found an incredible individual to be his donor & is scheduled for liver transplant surgery at the end of June. The surgery will be very intense and Rob could be in the hospital for weeks or even longer. The recovery time is expected to be SEVERAL months. With that said, Rob will be out of work for a long time and they will have to rely on only one income. We are hopeful that Lori can continue working while caring for Rob and her 3 beautiful active children.

Although they have medical insurance, it will not cover all the costs. Life must go on and maintaining their home, travel expenses, unforeseen bills and day to day expenses will be a huge burden. I know we can all come together and give them some much needed relief.

PLEASE share this with all your friends and family!

God bless and please know the Wallace family will be forever grateful.
