Our dad, who's always been the picture of health and an active guy who loved to help people, was diagnosed with kidney cancer last year. After a couple of successful surgeries, we were ready to put this past us. Unfortunately, the cancer came back this year, but was being treated successfully.

 On Aug. 11th, Dad awoke with stroke-like symptoms and had to be rushed to the ER, where he was diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage due to a brain metastasis. His condition improved as he stayed in ICU, but then suddenly deteriorated within a few hours. He passed away on the evening of Aug. 19th.

Dad was an integral part of the family and had been married 52 years to Mom (Annie). His loss has created an immense hole in our hearts and we are learning to cope without him, but there's a long road ahead.

Funeral services will be simple, because Dad was a down-to-earth man with simple tastes. But even the most basic of services are expensive. We would appreciate anything you can contribute to help us defray these costs as we mourn his loss. Dad did not have life insurance.
