During the night of February 4th or morning of February 5th, my small business was broken into. I didn't have much to steal, but everything was important to me.
I make very little money as I am still starting up. Not even enough to pay all of my bills.
The theif smashed the glass pane in my back door, got into the shop and stole almost all the cash I had... $200 in coin and bills in a locked strongbox, which he was able to just completely take, he mangled my cash drawer andwas only able to extract $35 in coin (thankfully $65 in bills were safe and he was in too much of a hurry to find a screwdriver to disassemble the drawer). The drawer itself is not in salvageable condition anymore and it will cost between $150 and $200 to replace it. He left my till computer alone as I think it was too cumbersome to remove... but he did steal my laptop.
The laptop is incredibly important to me. You see, I am a lone operator at the tailor shop. I do everything myself as I cannot afford to hire help. This means that I arrive each morning between 6:30 and 7:00 in the morning usually and stay until at least 5:00 in the evening (sometimes later) in order to get the work done. As I cannot do the sewing while the front doors are open, I mist do it before I open for the day and after I close in the evening. During the day, I use the laptop to do art commissions. Those commissions are the only way I have been able to pay my rent and utilities at my apartment for the past 13 months. I work on them on a computer at home, but I am not always at home. I need to be able to also work on them while I am in the shop or else I won't be able to have a place to live. The shop computer basically is only good to run the tailoring intake program and nothing else.
So, what is this GoFundMe for? Well, I do have insurance, but my deductible is $1000. I do not have that kind of money. I only have $80 in my business account! I am hoping on the generosity of anyone that happens to read this so that I can make that deductible. If I should happen to garner more than that, it would all go towards outstanding bills I have.
I am nearly facing bankruptcy as it is and I really don't want it to come to that. I work very hard and it is just the worst that this happened to me. :C
