A Warriors Way, Hives for Heros

My name is Jeremy Young.  I served in Afghansitan in 2010-2011.  My job was to advise and mentor at the Afghan National Army Hospital in Kabul, Afghansitan.  While there are many stories to tell and tears to be shed yet, one in particular stays with my every day.  The story of Siaed and his fahter.

On a cold and clear Afghan January day I met Siaed and his fahter.  A warrior in Afghanistan, he was injured in an IED blast that resulted in a spinal cord injury.  Years later he developed abdominal pain and was ignored by the Afghan providers.   As a result he developed an infection in his abdomen from acute appendicitis.  He was VERY underfed and weighed 74 lbs when I met him.  He required advanced care and cutting edge medications, none of which he could get due to fraud and politics in Kabul.  So, his father bought them with his own money.  $1000 - $2000 in US funds his fahter spent in the local currency.  The savings of his family to provide medications that otherwise the US taxpayers and Afghan National Army had already promised and paid for.  These missing drugs were found in the local shops, stolen from the shelves and lives of these Afghan patients.

Siaed died on March 5, 2011 at the age of 26 and weighing 90 lbs.....

I want to repay his father for what shold have been funded.  I would hope to travel to Kabul to repay him.  I have a few contacts there who are in contact with Siaeds father.

Please visit this website and learn more about my time there.  Its a blog so you would need to start at the bottom or the later posts wont make much sense.

dditionally while deployed I took a %50 pay cut.  This is usually balanced by speciality pay programs.  The Navy has refused to enroll me in this citing the speciality pay is for NEW members and since I am currently IN the Navy I dont qualify.....  Even though its a new position and new job.  The Navy has paid noting for my education and I am forced to use this degree to their benefit.  Understand I dont begrudge any of the sailors or marines I care for, I do my best for them.

I liked to golf, run, work on cars.  My hip cant tolerate any of those things now due to an injury in Afghansitan.  A fine how do you do.

I am looking to take up a bee hive .  Much reading to do and supplies to buy.  This is quite an adventure.

Thanks for looking and helping us out
