-----------------------------------------------------------------
If you are here, it means your heart has been struck by the death and destruction caused by a 7.8 earthquake on April 25, 2015 in Nepal and another 7.3 Earthquake on May 12, 2015.
Maybe you have family/friends in Nepal, you've visited, or you feel your heart ache for the people affected. No matter your reason, Thank You.

My name is Pratik Upadhyay & I come from Nepal, but I currently live in St. Cloud, MN, United States with my wife Molly (picture at bottom). When I was in Nepal, I worked with 1,200+ visitors as an international volunteer coordinator and a trekking guide.

I woke up this morning with horrible news about a huge earthquake in Nepal. Reports say 6500+ dead (updated deathtoll ) and growing. Even if people didn't lose their lives, they likely lost loved ones or their homes. Commuting by car is near impossible in some areas, which means people need food, cooking supplies, and water as well.

More about the earthquake here from BBC.

100% of the funds raised here (except 2.9% which GoFundMe takes as commission & 5% will go to AmeriCares) will be donated directly to Leo District Council 325 A2, and ALL of it will go to aid relief efforts through Leo Club of Kathmandu Regency. You can see their efforts and activities here .

The volunteers of Leo Club will organize a relief team and move forward in assisting the affected areas and people. The funds will help with immediate and short term needs like food, water, temporary housing, blood donations, medicine, or other needs as the call arises.

Since non-profit work in Nepal is my heart, I was president of my Leo Club of Kathmandu Regency  for many years doing work uniting community welfare efforts. We did many projects which you can see on the club's facebook page above.

Given my experience with the Leo Club, I can guarantee that your donations will go directly to Nepalis helping other Nepalis affected by the earthquake.

Many of you know me as your guide, teacher, and friend while you volunteered/travelled/trekked/worked in Nepal for the past 10 years. Currently I am thousands of miles away from home, but I am trying to do the best I can to help the earthquake victims and I need every one's support.

Thank you for anything you can contribute!

There were landslides in many places almost blocking the road. It was so risky to travel. When we reach to the places the condition was even worse. 5 people has died in that small village having around 25 houses. As everyone were out of the houses, some staying in the open and some other in the animal sheds. When we reach there we have to walk 30 min and the villagers helps us in carrying the food. When we reach there, whole village gathered around us with hope in their face. Everyone share their bad experiences with us. We distribute the noodles, juice and biscuits eat with them. Then we handed the rest of the materials like Rice, Bitten Rice, salt, daal, beshar, tents, medicines etc. to our representative Leo Rajendra Ghatani and ask them to share within themselves and make the proper use of it.
