Meet the Rainbow Room—a one stop shop for caseworkers to obtain items for families in need. The Rainbow Room provides these items for the workers to utilize for each case and relieves the worker of having to use their own finances in order to help their families. All families are different and their needs can often vary so the Rainbow Room provides the basics for these families such as cleaning products, food, toiletries, clothes, gifts for kids birthdays and Christmas, and school supplies.
The Rainbow Room is always in need of funds. Every donation is valuable to them as every client is different. They have to be able to purchase clothes and shoes in all sizes. The Rainbow Room tries to keep as many sizes as possible on hand so that when workers come in to get clothes or shoes for their kids they are able to outfit their kids in clothes that fit and are comfortable.
Many of the kids who are helped by the Rainbow Room have been removed from their parents. In the investigation process when a worker removes a child they try to provide the kids with two outfits so they have something to wear until the foster family can go to the store to purchase them clothes, shoes or toiletries. There are times that workers remove children that literally have no shoes or clothes that fit them properly so they have to use the room to provide the children with these items. Sometimes, parents need some guidance in caring for their kids because they are new parents and don’t know how to clean or can’t afford to purchase basic cleaning items. In order for the kids to remain in a clean home, workers will try to get them these items so that they can help them out until they can afford to purchase the items.
We are starting this campaign to provide for innocent children who are in unfortunate situations. With your help, we can make sure kids in San Antonio are cared for with the necessary items and made to feel special during holidays and their birthday.
