Having children is something that Andrea and Nathan have always wanted. Like most couples, they expected that achieving pregnancy would be an easy task. As the months of trying to conceive passed with no success, they became deeply disappointed Unfortunately, that first year of trying was filled with sadness and fear. However, they held firm in their belief that they would one day be parents.
In September 2014, Andrea and Nathan discovered their dream of becoming parents had come true! Baby Kolbet was to arrive on June 23rd, 2015.
Andrea and Nathan are excited for their little bundle to arrive, but they recently received some life altering news. On March 18, 2015, Andrea was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. After countless doctor appointments, scans and bloodwork it was determined that Andrea and Baby Kolbet would start Chemotherapy treatments. After delivering Baby Kolbet, Andrea will undergo a double mastectomy in September.
Andrea receives minimal paid time off from her work. This will require Andrea to take unpaid leave for the chemotherapy, childbirth and the double mastectomy.
In addition to unpaid medical leave, exorbitant medical bills are going to accrue as you can only imagine. Our goal is to raise as much money as possible to take the financial stress off of Andrea and Nathan. We want them to be able to focus on Andrea’s health and recovery, and to enjoy being new parents!
