I am Ellie Pawsey, a 22 year old actress from West Yorkshire. I have been successful in gaining a place at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama to study for a Masters degree in Musical Theatre, starting in September 2015.
The tuition fees alone are £13,000. I am absolutely delighted to have been successful in the competitve audition process and it would be devastating to have this dream taken away from me, after getting this close, due of lack funds. I therefore need to do an awful lot of fundraising.
If I can raise a proportion of my living costs through gofundme.com it would be a massive help. Any donation, big or small, would be greatly appreciated.
From the age of 8, I was part of the Huddersfield Choral Society Junior Choirs. It was through this choir that I was then fortunate enough to be one of the 100 singers, out of 2000 auditionees, that made up Youth Music Voices. Youth Music is an organisation that encourages young people from all backgrounds to get involved and reap the amazing opportunities that the music industry has to offer. I was lucky enough to perform in both the Olympic and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations, experiencing many prestigious venues around the country. It is organisations such as Youth Music that will thrive and stay alive if individuals are given the chance to heighten and expand their talents. I would love to one day be able to give back to the projects that allowed me to gain such valuable knowledge and wonderful memories.
In July 2014 I graduated with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Music Theatre from the University of Central Lancashire. This gave me the basic fundamental skills and extra self confidence to audition for drama school. Going to RWCMD would allow me to broaden my skills much further and ultimately make me industry ready, with the view of pursuing a professional performance career.
I am well aware that there are many charities and organisations that are in need of donations. However, I strongly believe that the entertainment industry is vital in our society and by allowing me to become one step closer to my dream, I can play a part in providing enjoyment in this often dispirited world that we live in.
