Julian is an energetic 6 year old, diagnosed with Down Syndrome, who loves to have fun playing. He loves to ride a bike, but the one we have is not appropriate for his needs. I can control the bike, but he cannot operate it himself. With an adapted bike Julian can independently ride and is making progress as seen in the attached video (recorded at school February 2015). Bicycles provide much more than just enjoyment to a child, it provides excercise and a way to strengthen muscles. When I started looking at adaptive bikes I was blown away at the price tag; for a "typical" child bikes range from $30 to $100 while adapted bikes range from $2,000 to $6,000. I am still finding ways to pay for a bike for my child, but friends and family members encouraged me to make a profile to not only spread awareness but raise funds so Julian can have a bike of his own. I am currently working with a company to purchase a bike and will provide updates on the cost and progress on this bike. Thank you for all your support, it is much appreciated.
