Life Saving Brain Surgery For Roddy

Hi, my name is Roddy Blake.  I am a farmer living in rural Jamaica in the Parish of St. Elizabeth.  I also raise cows, use my vehicle to provide transport and taxi service and do many odd jobs to earn a living and support my six year old daughter, Nyeka.  In 2008 I was diagnosed with a brain tumor which was successfully operated on and removed.  Now the tumor has returned.  My ability to work has been compromised by the recurrence of the tumors.  I have headaches and seizures.  My Neurosurgeon says the headaches are caused by inflammation on the brain and has placed me on anti-inflammation medication.  The seizures are caused by the tumors and I am also on anti-seizure medication. Before being placed on this medication I was having headaches daily and seizures once and sometims twice a month.  When I seize my body convulses uncontrollably and I am unable to speak even though I try to. My last seizure weakened the entire right side of my body (similar to what happens with stroke victims) and my Neurosurgeon has urged me to have the surgery as soon as possible.  

I have the love and support of my family and friends but raising the 4.5million Jamaican dollars (appriximately $48,000.00 US dollars) to fund this surgery is an extraordinarily difficult task for us.  My neurosurgeon has described these tumors as aggressive because they have returned and he is reccommending radiation therapy after the surgery.  My family and I are strong in our faith and believe that all things are possible .  We continue to do everything within our power and means to get me the necessary treatment, which for now, is making sure I  get the medication.  No donation would be too small.
