Bob and Pam Thistlewaite live in New Hartford, CT and are blessed with three wonderful children, ages 11, 9, and 7. They are facing a potentially crippling crisis, and this plea is for assistance to help alleviate their current financial burden.
On March 16, Emma, their 11-year old daughter, was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer, and she is facing a long, difficult road to recovery. Her treatment plan will span a period of twelve months, and it will include twelve chemotherapy weeks; surgery to remove the tumor from her upper left arm followed by an intense physical therapy program; and seventeen more chemotherapy weeks. She began her treatment on March 24.
Emma requires full-time care, which has impacted the number of hours that Bob and Pam have been able to work since her diagnosis. Because Pam will be Emma’s primary caregiver, she will have to reduce her work hours to a sporadic, part-time schedule through the remainder of Emma’s treatment plan. In addition to the unexpected medical expenses, the family is facing the added expense of after school/day care for Paige and Jacob when Pam accompanies Emma to the hospital for her 5-day inpatient chemotherapy treatments. This has resulted in a devastating financial blow for their family.
Due to their reduced income and mounting expenses, Bob and Pam need financial help right now. I am Bob’s cousin and close friend, and I am putting together this request in an effort to raise money on his family’s behalf. Please consider donating whatever you can to their cause.
