I got my Marley dog when she was just 8 weeks old. She is a pure bred boxer. Marley was the runt of the litter and her Mom had to have a C-section. I picked Marley from the litter because I was scared no one else would pick her since she was the runt. That was the best decision I made. Marley is 9 now and she is not just a dog to me. She is my family and best friend. We have always done everything together and she has been my constant in these 9 years, I think of her as a child. She has went through multiple moves with me, divorce as well as being by my side when I was grieving deaths. She has helped my son growing up with his anxiety. Marley sleeps with me every night with her head on a pillow and body under the blankets. Marleys personality is a lot like mine she is super friendly and a social butterfly and shes always there for you. She was by my side when I had cancer in 2016 and Praise God it is gone as I had surgery to remove it. I would take a bullet for Marley as I would do for anyone that I love. I did not have pet insurance or a pet savings account and quite honestly I just assumed nothing bad would happen to Marley dog. I was also kind of oblivious to pet insurance. If you are a pet owner please get pet insurance or have a pet savings account because this can happen to anyone. I always paid as we went for wellness checks and immunizations. Marley had a benign tumor removed. Marley has had back issues that have been ongoing. Marley has T cell lymphoma which was devasting to hear. I cry daily wondering if today will be our last. I did not want to fundraise because it is embarrassing and its hard, time consuming and you get critized for your choices and get told it is just a dog. Shes so much more than that to me. Before fundraising we exhausted all options and applied for loans, credit cards, sold personal posessions and applied for grants. The grants were either tapped out of funding or they didn't have a clear prognosis for her and every dog is different. I started fundraising and at first I tried the things we could afford based on our donations then as our Marley friends donations came in I would try more aggressive things. We have stopped in the middle of protocols due to it not giving us the response we wanted or her left lymph node staying swollen after she was tapered down from the Prednisone. If a treatment wasnt giving us the response we were looking for then we would try a different one. Marley has gotten many Uti's from different treatments.Marley has relapsed before and used a rescue. Marley does conventional treatment as well as holistic, accupuncture, massages, supplements and energy healing and I am the dog mom who has literally tried every promising product on the market. I have tried everything not just for the cancer but for her back, old age, athritus etc. I never knew Boxers were so prone to these things. Right now Marley is on more supplements then probably any elderly person. I have taken her to different Oncologists, Holistic Vets and her regular vet. I have tried to move mountains for her trying to come up with some break through to save her life. I can save all her problems but one and that is that we are literally fighting a beast which is T cell lymphoma. I have been successful fixing everything else but unfortunately the day will come when Lymphoma will win. Until then I have tried to give her the best long quality of life that I can. The protocol we are on now happened after her relapse. It was A sunday morning and Marleys lymph nodes were swollen badly and she couldnt eat and I panicked so we took her in on an Emergency basis and that is when she had her rescue. Two kind Marley supporters called in and made a donation which we are so thankful for. I thought I was going to lose her. We have gotten 2nd opinions, 3rd opions etc. The protocol we are on now is showing a ggod response and we were told that we needed to finish the whole thing out and not switch because we really dont have anything to switch to possibly one or two but I am not certain on that. This is our last protocol and once we finish it Marley will be strictly holistic and we may do maintence chemo possibly. We tried one foundation and have submitted everything electronically but now we just need to send in the paper forms and there is a 4-6 month waiting list so that will determine if we do maintence chemo. We have aligned ourselves with two other organizations to spread awareness to pet families and to help with events and that is our way of paying it forward. We are determined to spread awareness as well as creating a foundation in Marley's name so that when she is gone she will still be helping others and making people aware of all the things that can happen to your pet without insurance or a pet savings. The important thing I want to mention is we have been critized, ridiculed etc saying it is just a dog or bashing us for doing chemo. She is family too us. As all of you know when it comes to my child or my furchild I will do anything to help them. In the past I have always let you all verify anything with any of Marleys treating physicians and provided phone numbers etc. Today I received a phone call from one of her treating facilities stating that they keep receiving calls and they will no longer be taking phone payments per policy nor giving out information due to the number of calls. I then received a call from another treating facility same thing. I really preferred it the way we have always done in the past which was to call any of the facilities directly. Due to these circumstances we were told if anything needs to be verified to please contact me directly and I am more than happy to point you in the right direction. Most all of our donors have verified anything that is accociated with Marleys Journey or any organizations that I am becoming a part of. We are hoping to raise the last bit for the remainder of Marleys protocol. For all of her other treatments such as holistic and any tests or other treatments, suplements etc we will be trying to get a sponsor for those. We stand for Marley and we stand with any organization that are trying to help animals. We only want to spread awareness and help others going through this and that's our way of paying it forward. We have her logo in the works to branch together with another foundation. Most of our donors already have the information needed but if you are a new donor please do not hesitate to contact me and I can get anything needed right away. We love you all and appreciate all of you so much. We stand for positivity and helping others and have some upcoming events in the works for us to spread awareness. It is hard Going through anything like this. I hope that Marley will continue to have a long quality of life. We are running out of options for her. Some don't agree with some of the extra treatments such as holistic or chemo that we have chosen for Marley and that's ok and I understand. In the end I want to say I tried everything out there.
