My name is Jordan Miller and I have accepted to take part in a 9-month, faith-based, inner-city internship which will kick off this coming August and go till the middle of May next year!
Below, I have listed what the internship will consist of and how you can have a better understanding of what the Yellow House is to the community.

-Community Renewal International- (www.communityrenewal.us) has a young adult branch of its ministry called The Yellow House (www.criyellowhouse.com). The Yellow House accepts up to 10 resident interns every year to live in the ministry’s provided home which is located in the middle of one of CRI’s five targeted under-resourced neighborhoods --- Highland. This program focuses on leading interns between the ages of 21-30 through three different efforts of faith-based community.

1. To Live Community: The house full of interns to commit to a way of life that prioritizes loving well and maintaining an honest, teachable, and willing spirit. This family-style living offers an anchor of interdependency and sacrifice that young adults don’t always get the chance to experience in their post-school years. The program incorporates a house covenant while also taking interns through nine months worth of a curriculum which is specifically crafted to help them practically apply their faith in our ever-changing culture.

 2. To Love Community: Interns do not just serve the neighborhoods where we live, but they become a part of them. Through weekly neighborhood visits and daily after school programs for K-12th graders in our area, friendships are made that help us all get better together. Interns serve as undergirding agents to our CRI Friendship Houses which offer block parties, GED programs, tutoring, character building classes, Bible studies, etc.

3. To Teach Community: We know that we have not fully learned something until we are able to teach it. Through periodic mini-seminars, teachings, and retreats offered through the Yellow House, interns are given the opportunity to take what they are learning about practically applied faith and communal living and share it with the larger community.

As an intern, it is my responsibilty to raise and fund the one-time, nonrefundable contribution of $2500. It will be going towards the costs of rent, utilities, travel and books, while also offsetting some of the operating budget for the entire nine months of my stay.

With money being tight these days for some of you, I completely understand. But as I step into this next step of life and ministry, I ask that you would remember me in your prayers as I promise to do for you as well.

Prayer reminds us of our undeniable connectedness.

Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to read this!
