My name is Kenneth Wyatt. I am a cowboy artist and a man with a burden on his heart for America's wounded veterans. Some time ago, I learned that a large percentage of the young men and women who are wounded in the line of duty now suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Many are suicidal. The figure quoted to me was 33,000 now on suicide watch The most heartbreaking number I was given was 22: that's an average of 22 U.S. veterans a day who chose to take their own lives.
A vision began to take hold of me. Perhaps I could use my talents as an artist to help in some way. After much thought and prayer, the vision became clearer: I wanted to provide art to these at-risk veterans. I would provide digitally recorded art lessons and the necessary supplies for each soldier to produce a beautiful work of art.
Thus, the PUSHIN' PAINT Foundation was born. Our goal is to furnish filmed art lessons and supplies to those veterans who may be at risk from PTSD. Initially, we'd like to raise enough money to supply art kits to one thousand veterans. Once that goal is met, we plan to keep going until we have placed a PUSHIN" PAINT kit in the hands of every soldier possible.
You may be wondering how this will help. The truth of the matter is, art is therapeutic. Art lessons have long been a significant component in the rehabilitation of people who have indured the unimaginable. A Veteran's Administration study, Creative Arts ForPatient Healing, comfirms that even viewing art has a positive impact.
Every thirty dollars donated will enable a solder to participate in PUSHIN' PAINT. The sooner the funds are in place to purchase canvases, paint and brushes for the kits, the sooner we can get them in the hands of those who are so deserving of our help.
We applied for and have been granted a 501c3 charitable organization status, so your donations are tax deductable.
