Drew's Top Surgery Fund

My name is Drew and I'm a transgender student living in Asheville, North Carolina. I have gender dysphoria, which causes me a lot of distress and discomfort with my body. I'm raising money for top surgery, which will help my body align more closely with my gender. The surgery is not covered by my insurance so any amount that you can give will help. The procedure will cost around $6,100, which is more money than I’ve ever even had at one time and makes the whole process seem pretty scary and out of my reach. But if enough people chip in even $5, it can be achieved!

I’m in college now, and I don’t have enough work experience to get a job that pays much more than minimum wage ($7.25 where I live). I was also in an accident in June which totalled my car, so I'm making payments on a new one, leaving me with very little money to save for surgery. It could take several years for me to save up the required amount on my own, which would be very harmful to my mental health. I struggle with anxiety mostly caused by dysphoria, and having top surgery would help so much to alleviate that.

The $6,100 price is what I was quoted for the surgery alone, and doesn't factor in any travel expenses or medication that I might need afterwards. Fortunately, I live only a couple hours away from my surgeon, and I should be able to cover any extra expenses on my own. Any amount that you can give helps, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
