Multi-Generational Home Needs Help!
Both my husband Steve and I live in a 2 family, Cape style, duplex built by my grandfather in 1955 and we are running out of both funds & time to keep the roof he built over our heads.
Steve is currently in-between jobs and looking, but he is in the process of being approved to be a Personal Care Assistant to his elderly mother as well while I am a cashier at Target making $9/hr at 24-36 hours a week at best. One side is currently rented by one family who is in the process of moving and another family is looking to rent it, so it's between rent payments. We live on the other side and just had a couple of bad roommates evicted from the one bedroom they were leasing. They haven't paid rent in over 2 years and in the process of the eviction, they have cost us well over $12,000 in lawyer bills, emergency repairs, and court fees alone in less than a year. Our yearly income is just barely $15,000 and we are so far behind on our finances mainly because of emergency repairs and court fees that we are at risk of having our home taken away. We are only asking for a tentative $5,000 total right now to help catch us up and hopefully that will be all it takes, but with how things have been going we put a limit of $30,000 just in case something unforeseeable happens. We have exhausted all other outlets of help and we have asked for donations from family and friends just to get by. They have helped us graciously with what little they could, but even that wasn't able to last for very long due to the severity of our situation, so we are now asking the world. We desperately don't want to lose our home so we humbly beg: please help us. Donate and spread the word; if you can't donate we understand, but please let others know as well. We would like to welcome any future children we may have into this home, so we do not want to lose it now and deny them the chance of living in a true family house that has been passed down.
