Save Cavalry Horses In Newtown, CT

Chartered in 1808, The Second Company Governor's Horse Guard is one of the oldest active Cavalry units in the United States. An all-volunteer state militia unit, 2GHG serves the citizens, governor, and gives much of their time to help many charitable organizations in the State of Connecticut.

The company's horses are used for therapeutic riding programs for the disabled, visits to hospitals and many other charitable functions. The horses are the only reason for this unit's existence and for keeping Connecticut's cavalry history alive.

2GHG Troopers continue to serve Connecticut as willingly today as they did during Colonial times, most often riding in ceremonial functions. Sadly, this unit
may soon be forced to dismount permanently, due to cuts in the State’s budget; wich will eliminate for ever, all funds to feed their horses. Permanent budget cuts are slated for around mid June, 2017.

"Connecticut's living history should never be allowed to fade away".

Friends of 2GHG is in immediate need of private funding to help The Second Company Governor's Horse Guard maintain and feed their horses, and remain “Ready to Serve”.

For further information about this unit, visit their web site at: www.thehorseguard.org ,

Donations can be made to (Friends of 2GHG).  At: gofundme.com/horseguard  or directly to ‘Friends of the Horse Guard’ website: www.friendsof2ghg.org .  (A non-profit 501c3 organization dedicated to the support of 2GHG).

Please helph preserve the horses and "Connecticut's Living History".

Thank you in advance for your kind support,

Friends of 2GHG.
