Luis René Pagán Vélez, se encuentra en cuidados intensivos del Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, en Pensilvania. Por qué Pensilvania, sencillo... René y Noemí decidieron pasar la Navidad en la casa de su hija Érika y su esposo Juan, en New Jersey. Estuvieron de paseo en Maryland y DC el fin de semana previo a la Noche Buena. Jared y Jordyn, su novia, también viajaron a Maryland y Jersey.  René nació en New Jersey, por lo que él a todos dice que es de Jersey... Lolll! Pasaron la Noche Buena y celebraron Navidad con todos sus hijos en New Jersey y compartieron en familia esa semana.

     La noche del jueves 27 de diciembre le dió un infarto, masivo. La ambulancia lo llevó, le hicieron un cateterismo, pero la mañana del viernes 28 de diciembre los doctores le dijeron a Noemí que habían hecho todo lo posible por salvarlo, pero René acababa de fallecer. Se podrán imaginar el desespero de Noemí, porque en este punto ella estaba sola. Ella llamó a Cheo y se activó la oración. Varios minutos más tarde, le encontraron un pulso bajo y lo entubaron. ¡Estaba vivo! Gloria a Dios.

     La travesía ha sido larga, no por el tiempo, sino por la intensidad de las emociones vividas en esta época navideña, por la familia Pagán quienes despidieron a su madre el 21 de diciembre, cuando se fue a morar con el Señor y por el inesperado ataque cardíaco que sufrió René.  Ahora René se encuentra en proceso de recuperación, después de haber vencido a la muerte.   En este momento tiene un ECMO, que funciona como su corazón bombeando su sangre a través del cuerpo; una máquina que dializa su sangre; y, un respirador artificial. Tiene línea central para alimentarlo y un sinnúmero de medicamentos para sustentarlo.

     ¡Dios es y ha sido fiel con la familia Pagán y Oquendo! Agradecemos sus oraciones, su apoyo incondicional y la fortaleza que recibimos de ustedes. Noemí le lee sus mensajes a René cada noche y aunque él no puede hablar, sí escucha y reacciona. Igualmente, agradeceremos todo apoyo financiero para ayudar con los gastos de Noemí durante esta estadía indeterminada en el hospital.

Why Pennsylvania, simple... René and Noemí decided to spend Christmas at the home of their daughter Érika and her husband Juan, in New Jersey. They went for a walk in Maryland and DC the weekend before Christmas Eve. Jared and Jordyn, his girlfriend, also traveled to Maryland and Jersey. René was born in New Jersey, so he says everyone is from Jersey ... Lolll! They spent Christmas Eve and celebrated Christmas with all their children in New Jersey and shared with family that week.

On the night of Thursday, December 27, he had a massive heart attack. The ambulance took him, they did a catheterization, but on the morning of Friday, December 28, the doctors told Noemí that they had done everything possible to save him, but René had just passed away. You can imagine Noemí's despair, because at this point she was alone. She called Cheo and the prayer was activated. Several minutes later, they found a low pulse and intubated him. He was alive! Glory to God.

The journey has been long, not because of the time, but because of the intensity of the emotions experienced during this Christmas season, by the Pagán family who dismissed their mother on December 21, when she went to live with the Lord and the unexpected. heart attack suffered by René. René is now in the process of recovery, after having conquered death. At this time you have an ECMO, which works like your heart pumping your blood through the body; a machine that dialyzes its blood; and, an artificial respirator. It has a central line to feed it and countless medications to sustain it.

God is and has been faithful with the Pagán and Oquendo family! We appreciate your prayers, your unconditional support and the strength we receive from you. Noemi reads her messages to René every night and although he can not talk, he does listen and reacts. Likewise, we would appreciate any financial support to help with Naomi's expenses during this indefinite stay in the hospital.
