Never Too Late To Get Your Degree

I hate asking people for help, but I sure could use some help right now... I need to raise money to help pay for my 24 credit Prior Learning Portfolio this fall. This is a major priority to finish my B. A. at UMass Amherst University Without Walls.
I am a 58-year old college student currently in my junior year at UMA University Without Walls , working hard to complete my Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing and Communications in the Digital Age. I should be graduating with departmental honors in 3 more semesters. It is never too late!
Students at UWW have the opportunity to write a Prior Learning Portfolio for credit as part of the program. This summer, I am winding down completing my Prior Learning Portfolio, which should be worth 24 credits when it is submitted in the fall and approved. My Student Aid, Pell Grants and Student Loans have financed most of my degree, but not all of the 24 credit Prior Learning Portfolio is covered by my student aid.
As a single mother and former entrepreneur, I have mostly scraped by over the past 25 years or so. Although I have seen success in my life, I always felt as though something was holding me back. In a nutshell, it was not having a degree. Currently I supplement living on Student Aid with freelance web design work but it is not enough to pay the rent and utilities, maintain my old car that needs tires and put food on the table.
I have worked hard to maintain a 4.0 GPA because when I have completed my Bachelor's degree I hope to pursue my Masters in Creative Writing as well. I would like to dedicate the later part of my life to making a difference in the lives of women living in poverty. It is a life I understand, and I would like to shine a light on the pervasive issues that single mothers face living in poverty.
I want other single mothers to know how important it is to get their degree. So many times, I have had people say to me when I am looking for a job in recent years, since the economy wiped out my last business, "where's your degree?" I am confident that with my degree I can make a difference in the lives of other women like myself.
Please donate to help fund my Prior Learning Portfolio and my research for my departmental honors creative project which will be a digital multimedia memoir including my nature photography. I plan to create a full length memior, for print and digital piblication, from the two projects combined when I complete my B.A.
Any and all excess donations will go towards a new and much needed computer for my work, a new camera and other household expenses that I constantly run short on.
