Nepal Urgent Earthquake Appeal

Donation protected

My name is Padma, I am originally from Phikuri-2 Nuwakot Nepal, directly north of Kathmandu  and I have been living in England for over nine years. As you all know the devastating earthquake in Nepal has damaged most parts of the country and taken over 7500 lives, left many many thousands injured, homeless and as many starving people including the vulnerable old and young children.

In my area alone, which consists of my own village plus three others, there has been total of 123 deaths with many more injured.

It has been nearly a week and half since the disaster but although main areas like Kathmandu are receiving good aid support remote areas including mine and the surrounding villages are still without any real help as the government and international aid agencies have not reached the area. In my area no single house is liveable and most are just rubble.  Villagers normally keep their rice, maize, wheat inside their houses and feed their family throughout the year. As you imagine very few people been able to save their food and have been sharing the tiny amounts they have with their neighbours and communities until now.

They have made their own shelters (as you will be able see in the pictures below)  but there has already been heavy rain and storms since the earthquake; this brings the additional risk of landslides. They are spending their nights in the cold and wet, it is very hard for anybody to imagine what they are going through; having to hear that they are now effectively out of basic human needs: food, shelter and  safe drinking water.

I spoke to one of my cousins, he said ''please help us, I think I will die with hunger.''

Please do help us.

Please donate as little or as much as you are able, to help these ‘forgotten’ communities and villagers, every penny will be worthwhile.

The money raised will be given direct to communities to enable them to establish clean drinking water supplies, have basic food and more substantial shelter for the monsoon season which is approaching soon.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your donation.
