Rebuilding Lake Chelan, WA (FIRES)

On Friday August 14, 2015 Chelan, Wa was devistated by wildfires after a lightning storm. Thankfully, for my family, it was only our vacation property that was destroyed in the fires. Many people lost so much more. I was in Chelan, Wa on Monday, August 17, 2015 to see the devistation of the small community. While we are sad that our little piece of heaven was destroyed, it seems small compared to what others have lost. People lost their homes, cars, pets, businesses, and in turn many jobs. People are camping in tents and motels are all full. People were walking around with their children holding only blankets and crying. Safeway was out of most immediate need groceries including meats/protein. I know they can order in more, but the shelves will quickly be emptied again.
Our neighboors, Chet & Mary, a retired couple lost their entire home, which is pictured above. Unfortunantly, they are not the only ones who lost so much.
Our goal is to pay insurance deductibles for homes and autos. Insurance takes time in situtations like these. Some people may be covered and some might not. Every policy is written differently and some have exculsions in cases of fire. Homes and Personal Property (such a vehicle) may have depreciated in value and it would be impossible for a family to purchase a new vehicle
We also want to raise money to help the small community pay for immediate needs such as lodging, Food- Human & Pet, clothing, and Medical Expenses.
Food and Clothing Donations are just as amazing as money. We will be arranging a system for clothing and food donations and we will update this campaign as soon as that is arranged. Please remember, it is summer now, but Fall and Winter in Chelan are Freezing! People are going to need Jackets, Warm Clothing, Pants, and Blankets.
The goal is set to $5.00 because I had to input a minimum amout, but the needs are great. 100% of Donations will go directly to the individuals rather than to a large organization. Even if everyone only donates $1.00 it will make a huge impact!!!!
Remember all charitable donations up to a certain dollar amount, without a receipt, are tax deductible! Get your receipt by email or printing it from Go Fund Me! I have a receipt book that I will be bringing to the meets ups so you will have proper documentation for your tax deductions. I'll just need to take a quick peek at your receipt for items donated. If they are personal items from home I'll just need an estimated value and I can give you a recepit for those as well!
Let's make this as big as possible and help Individual families ease the burden and rebuild Chelan and their faith in humanity!
