My name is Emily, and I am an artist and a tattoo apprentice. I've been working at a shop for almost a year now and am gaining experience - but I need help with materials!
You're all familiar with the term "starving artist", and there is a reason for it- It's hard to make a living at it! Most artists juggle multiple jobs as well as the usual family commitments and trials of life. It's hard to make time when you're tired after work, and it's hard to put aside extra cash to buy more supplies.
For most of my life, I've been struggling to find my calling, but this past year I stumbled into it- tattooing. It's an art form that is gaining both in popularity and artistic recognition. I myself find it fascinating as a medium, to work with different people and their own visions. I also love learning the various techniques to gain different effects, and it's incredibly gratifying to create a piece of art that someone gets to carry with them. It's also very therapeutic for me!
But, like any new job, it takes time to gather enough cash to afford the best tools to do your best work. Life has thrown some curve-balls the last little while, and I've been financially strapped for cash. With your help, I would like to designate this as a strictly "art supply" fund, to help buy myself a reliable power supply, a couple good brand machines, and maybe some beautiful colours of ink.
I've started this fund in the hopes that I may be able to purchase better machines and materials to help advance my work. I've been doing well with what I have, but it'd sure be nice to do an even better job!
