'Miracle Man' - Lee Goff

Donation protected
What would seem like a normal, sunny day on Saturday, March 14, 2015, turned out to be one of the scariest days for Lee Goff and his family. Lee went to his nieces’ birthday party with his daughter and afterwards, Lee went to go play some basketball with his friends. He started to get dizzy and light headed, so he laid down on the ground at the courts to cool off because he thought it was the heat getting to him. He went to his sister’s home to lay down because he thought he was experiencing a bad case of heartburn, but his sister made him go to SGMC’s Emergency Room and thank God she did.

When he told the front desk he was having chest pains and that his arm felt numb all the way down to his fingers, they asked him to fill out paperwork and to give them his license. When he reached for his license, he hit the floor. He had stopped breathing. The hospital staff started chest compressions to revive him. His heart had been starved of oxygen for 11 minutes. He was then quickly admitted into ICU and that’s when they performed a heart catheter (cardiac catheterization) of his coronary arteries and they found a 100% blockage of his left artery. He had just suffered a massive heart attack, also known as the “widow maker”, at the age of 27. After receiving a stint in one of his arteries, he started to have mini brain seizures. They were going to place him into a medically induced coma as part of a hypothermic state to keep his body temperature low, but he had awoken before they had the chance to do so, asking for his daughter.

Lee is still recovering at the Heart Center and due to the trauma his body has endured, he is suffering from short-term memory loss. He is slowly getting better every day and we all thank God that he is still alive and was able to survive this nightmare. He is a miracle!
Just in case you have never had the pleasure of meeting Lee, let me tell you, this man goes out of his way to help others, no matter what. He is a proud, single parent to his 5 year old daughter, Mackenzie, who is his life. Lee is also a hardworking employee at Lowe’s Distribution Center, but as I am sure you’re aware, he is not working at the moment and we do not know when he will be released to go back to work. He needs a defibrillator vest to keep his heart beat in check because right now, his heart is only pumping 20% of the blood in his body. He has no insurance or income at the moment.

Donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated to help Lee and his daughter during this difficult period in their lives. If you are unable to donate, we do understand and wish that you keep Lee and his family in your prayers and thoughts. We believe Lee’s life was spared because God has a plan for him on this Earth. There is no other way to explain his continued strength. Thank you for all of the prayers and well wishes, they have definitely helped.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths. ”: Proverbs 3:5-6
