Help Starlings Get to Nationals!

The Omaha Starlings is a non-profit volleyball club that serves youth of various socio-economic backgrounds. Our mission statement is that no kid is turned away for the inability to pay. We have had 37 kids go on to receive full ride volleyball scholarships. Every year we travel to San Diego to compete in the Starlings National Championship. The 18's team has won it four out of the past five years! This year our trip is in serious jeopardy. Our club purchased 28 flight vouchers from a company called Creative Creations. The girls fundraised for months in order to purchase those tickets. They sold candles, popcorn, did concessions, and cleaned up at the Centurylink Center. Creative Creations has suspended all travel. In addition they have not returned phone calls or emails. They have locked their doors and closed their business. They will not refund the money. Many other people were victims of Creative Creations as well. Those that paid by credit card were able to turn it in as fraud and recover their money. The Starlings unfortunately were not able to get our money back because we paid for them with a company check. We are out $3,220. In addition to that amount, we now have to raise additional money to pay for more expensive flights. Our flight vouchers were $115/ticket. Flights are now running around $350+. WOWT news recently ran a story on this company and how it has affected the Starlings. After the story ran, many people suggested that I start a gofundme to help ensure that these girls still get to go. I typically prefer that the girls EARN the money to help with travel costs instead of soliciting donations. However, in this circumstance we are at your mercy since they did earn the money and it was stolen from them. Any money donated would go towards flight and hotel expenses. I sincerely appreciate everyone that was moved by our story and so generously offered to donate. This has been a nightmare for all involved. Giving those kids the opportunity to compete and have all of their hard work pay off would be a dream come true.
