Oliver Tchakarov Cancer Fight Club

As if it was Thanksgiving, on November 10, 2015, the Tchakarov’s family was handed a devastating, heart-crushing gift – their firstborn son, Oliver (10), was diagnosed with Mediastinal Large B-cell Llymphoma (latest). Out of the blue…without any warnings or signs, cancer struck.
The cancer ate through the whole left lung and it is very likely that Oliver will have to live with one lung for the rest of his life. He never smoked or drunk and it begs the question – how can a 10 year old get a lung cancer???
Oliver Tchakarov (10) was born on July 1, 2005. His physical acumen made him excel at Karate and Tag Football alongside kicking behinds in Mrs. Dobransky’s Fifth Grade at New Canaan’s Saxe Middle School.
With YOUR contributions, wishes and prayers, the fight Oliver will endure can be a little less difficult. Fortunately, the Tchakarov family has insurance to help pay some of the treatments Oliver will require. Yet, as you can imagine, the insurance will not cover all costs and needs now or in the future. This is a marathon that Oliver is running, not a sprint!
Oliver, is the firstborn son of Katerina Sovikova-Tchakarov and Svetlin Tchakarov. Oliver has two younger brothers, Simon (8) and Thomas (6) and have lived in New Canaan for the past 5 years.

Svetlin and I grew up together and so it happens, Oliver, Simon, Thomas and our son, Koko, grew up together too. Rather than being in class, or playing tag football and karate, Oliver is currently in the capable hands at Yale New Haven’s Children Hospital.
