Hi, my name is Emma Bunt and this is a picture of my son Seth Bunt, he is 9yrs old.
Seth was born with a kidney disease, called Renal dysplatic kidney disease. Seth will be undergoing a kidney transplant on the 23rd of April.
I, being Seth's mum have been tested and am a match to donate my kidney . I am a single mother of 3 children, Libby who is 15, Seth 9 and max 10 months. I have a small home based business who is struggling due to the economic downturn. Over the last 9 years there has been many trips back and forth to Sydney for treatment and doctor’s appointments and the ongoing medication, it has already been a financial struggle to get by and I wouldn’t wish this on anyone!
There is little to none government funding for this, there was a donors grant that was canned at the end of last year and revised with a different payment, It is based on your taxable income (so I’m not entitled to full payment) ,also being a small business I am not entitled to the full single parent pension, I have exhausted all avenues, so it leads me to asking help from the community, I am asking for support from local businesses to help me and my family survive whilst I'm unable to work after our operations.
The operation will take place at Sydney's westmead children's hospital, so we will need to stay in Sydney for a 6-8 week period with many trips back n forth to newcastle for my other 2 children.
I have worked out an average daily living away from home, this is not including child care for my youngest or our normal daily living costs for home. We are looking at an average of $125 per day ($95 a day in accommodation) a total of $5,250 for a 6 week minimum stay.
I am hoping that, with a little help, I will be able to focus solely on my son’s health, and not have to worry so much about money.
