Life's a battle so fight on!

My name is Rosamaria Meza. I am from a small town (Caruthers, California) where I have been raised my whole life. I graduated from Caruthers High School in 2012. During high school I was involved in F.F.A. (Future Farmers of America). I received my American degree in 2013. I was a part of the floral team and livestock showmanship at our local fairs. I was a part of the tennis team and the cheerleading squad. I began attending Fresno State University in the fall of 2012. I am majoring in Agriculture Education with an emphasis in Animal Science. In June of 2014, I was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma. It was a very traumatic time for me although I remained hopeful. It was a major road block in my life and my illness was an obstacle I had to overcome. I had an entire year of chemotherapy. The hospital became my new home. Finally, some good news in June of 2015, I beat my cancer! I was in remission for a little over a year.
During that year in remission I started to get even more involved with school and extracurricular activities. I became a member of the Sigma Alpha Sorority (a professional sorority). I also joined the Alpha Zeta Fraternity. Alpha Zeta only selects members that are in the top 1/8 of their class. I am also a part of multiple clubs on campus. I am a part of Ag. Ambassadors, State Conference Committee, Poultry Club, Animal Welfare and last but not least C.W.A. (California Women of Agriculture). Through my illness, I have learned to never give up no matter how hard the challenge or situation might be. You cannot let yourself stop fighting for something that you really want. You have to give it your all because you never know if you’ll have a second chance. I have started to see life in a whole different perspective than before. While in remission, I continued my check-ups and routine scans. In October 2016, I was informed that a mass appeared. Further scans were recommended. I had the additional scans performed. I also had a biopsy procedure which confirmed the reoccurrence of Ewing’s Sarcoma. Immediately after, I had my meda-port placed and began chemotherapy once again.
Currently we depend on one income for all expenses. My father is the only provider and he works long hours just to make ends meet. Being diagnosed once again with Ewing’s Sarcoma will add more expenses. One of our most current hardships is commuting to and from the hospital multiple times a month as well as the extra food expenses due to hospital stays. I have to undergo treatment for another year which will put a strain on the finances at home. I cannot describe in words how I feel. I am getting through it one day at a time and keeping positive thoughts. I leave it all in the hands of God. I am sure that there is a purpose for my current health circumstance. Even till this day I find it difficult to share and talk about everything that is happening. I know I am not alone. I please ask that you keep me in your prayers. I need a healing miracle. Thank you in advance for your love and support.
