Trying to grow holiness...

My name is Peter Bernetsky, and I am studying for the Roman Catholic Priesthood at Saint Chrales Borromeo Seminary in Pennsylvania. I am in my Junior year of college, making my way, slowly but surely, through the formation program. During my Sophmore year, in a stalwart attempt to fortify my human formation, I requested (and recieved) permission to start a garden. I love working with the earth because, like me, it is quiet, docile, trampled underfoot, and not given much thought. Well, I did indeed start a garden, and I did procure some produce from it. Namely, lettuce and carrots. Unfortunately, because school gets out in May, and we seminarians (men studing to be priests) are gone three months out of the year, I came back in the Fall and found the 26 X 40 foot plot overgrown. Hence, the particularly unnnatractive photograph of a big ol' pach of soggy dead grass. Now, for those seasoned gardeners who are reading this and thinking to themselves: "What in the heck does a twerpy college kid think he's gonna be able to do with a 26 X 40 ft plot of land?" I say this: I have no clue. You see, all the produce is given to the sisters who live in the convent on campus. One of them is our registrar and they both cook for the Archbishop. The vegitables I want to grow in my garden would not be enough to feed a community of 130+ people, but it would be sufficient for a much smaller community, say of about fore. There4, I would like to retract a portion of my Sophmore zeal and, rather than attempt to occupy and manage a 26 X 40 ft plot of land (by myself), I would like to build 8 garden boxes, which would allow easier maintenance and a more organized (and pretty) space, as they would be arranged in the pattern of St. Brigid's cross. The problem is, I don't have the money to buy all the materials I need to build the aforementioned garden boxes. That is why, trusting in Providence, the patronage of St. Fiacre, and your generosity, I hope to accomplish the project and secure a future for the many generations of garden-loving seminarians to come. Thank you for any help you may provide financially, and prayers are always welcome too! My goal to cover all the expenses is $600.00, not including man-hours, which would be free, and the "fun part". With spring right around the corner, I am hoping to get started on these within the next month or so, before final exams. If you still feel that this whole thing is pretty scetch or that I am actually writing this in an underground bunker in a foreign country, check out my blog at http://themanoffshore.blogspot.com/ where I post things about seminary life and you get to see a bit of what I'm about. Thanks again! Peter B.
