My Filmmaking Career Fund

Donation protected
At 14 years of age, while watching my favorite motion picture of all time, Star Wars Episode V: The  Empire Strikes Back, I had a sudden revelation: I want to be a film director. I want to make science fiction and adventure films like Star Wars. I want to make films that have a powerful impact on people. As the years past, this revelation became a dedication. It is my life long career goal to become one of, if not THE greatest film director in motion picture history.

Because of the crippling costs of my college education at Columbia College Chicago, I have not been able to afford the necessary items needed to jumpstart my career in cinema, such as a camera and MacBook laptop. The required software for my film classes are only available on Apple products. The software in which the scripts for some of the best films ever made have been written is only available on Apple products.

As a young African American man with huge ambitions, it may be challenging to break into Hollywood with its longstanding history of racial bias against black actors/actresses and filmmakers. With a Nikon D3200 camera (which shoots in Full HD 1080p) and a MacBook Pro with editing software Final Cut Pro X and screenwriting software Final Draft 9, I believe I can sucessfully jumpstart my career with the film ideas I have in my head and hopefully tear down the negative stereotypes that are perpetuated against black filmmakers, as well as have a positive influence on other young and aspiring filmmakers in my same position.

I believe my ambition, my dedication, my ability to learn from other filmmakers and grow, and my love for the cinematic arts is what will make me one of the greatest film directors of all time. I want to make films that influence people to do more than what society expects of them. I want my work to inspire people to push themselves beyond their own limits. I want to share my love for motion pictures with the world and hopefully influence other young people (especially young people of color) to get into filmmaking.

Any dollar amount donation is GRATEFULLY accepted, and if I exceed my goal of $5,460, the exceeding amount will go toward my student loans and tuition payments.

To those thinking about donating to me: I am simply asking that you believe in me as strongly as I believe in myself.
