Our Scholars HOPE and HEAL Project aims to help the homeless population in our community. We are passoinate about making a change and providing a sense of relief for those who have nothing.
HOPE
Helping Obliterate Poverty Everywhere
The HOPE branch of our project works to improve the lives of the homeless everywhere within Columbia, South Carolina. With the donations we will help buy food, clothing, and necessities for the homeless to ease the burden they hold. We will make carepackages containing neccesities for the homeless in our community. Even a dollar contributed is worthwhile to the HOPE branch of HOPE & HEAL.
HEAL
Helping to Enrich Adolescent Lives
The HEAL part of our project focuses on education and homeless teens. We want to build a support system starting with the homeless students at our school, Ridge View High School. Although public schools are funded by public funds, such as taxes and government funding, there are still many costs, such as SAT and ACT prep and substantial food, that are not required but attribute to great academic success, that the student must pay for themselves. This unfortunately leads to a huge disadvantage for kids who are not able to pay for those costs. High school success leads almost directly to a successful adult life, regardless if that is fair or not. With your gracious donations we will be able to take many of those costs off of their backs and help them build sucess.
We plan to pay for student fees such as:
-SAT and ACT prep/tests
-College applications
-Review books
-Food
-Hotel vouchers
Anything that a highschool student needs to succeed, we want to help get that for homeless teens.
Our hope is to be able to go beyond our school and help children in our whole district but to do that we must start small and then go big. We also really need your help.
